Well, I don’t. But skin hydration and elasticity are key factors in wound healing and wound prevention. Zander.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1111\/jdv.15157\"><strong>Link to Article<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Objective: The purpose of this original article is to determine the prevalence of dry skin in the German Population.<\/p>\n<p>Methods: Over 45000 people of working age were given whole-body examinations, including past medical history,\u00a0 by experienced dermatologists.<\/p>\n<p>Results: Of that groups, 29.4% were rated as having xerotic skin, with most of them being older.<\/p>\n<p>Conclusions: Dry skin affects a large percentage of the adult population and this needs special attention.<\/p>\n<p>My thoughts: – As a podiatrist, I see dry skin and its associated problems all day, every day. The legs and forearms have fewer sebaceous glands which makes the lower limbs a prime target. They also showed increased ceramide, an important part of the skin’s protective barrier,\u00a0 and natural moisturizing factor, the skin element that maintains the water gradient in the stratum corneum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusions<\/strong>: This study showed that intact of collagen powder increased the skin’s moisture content, improving its ability to protect the body against dehydration and prevent invaders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My thoughts<\/strong> – The number of test subjects was pretty small (only 25 ingested the collagen while 25 received a placebo) and the perceived improvement was marginal. I will seek out more studies like this to see if the same results bear out.
